	Masateru, Genzyme Japan Masateru has a unique perspective on the positive impact Genzyme has on patients’ lives. At age 4 he was diagnosed with Gaucher disease, and has received Cerezyme treatment since it was first introduced in Japan in the mid 1990s. For the past eight years, Masateru has worked in the Therapeutics division at Genzyme in Japan, managing Genzyme’s agreements with medical institutions that conduct post-marketing studies for Genzyme’s LSD products. “I am proud of my job, as what I am doing is very important for Genzyme in Japan. It’s a big responsibility, so the job is challenging and fulfilling. Someone asked me early on whether I was comfortable being involved in sales of LSD products, and I was totally okay with it. Genzyme is a company that considers patients first, by all means. That’s what I like about Genzyme. I truly appreciate the opportunity to work for such a great company.”
	Torsten, Genzyme Pharmaceuticals When Torsten, a native of Switzerland, saw the open position in commercial development at Genzyme Pharmaceuticals in Cambridge, Mass. on Genzyme’s Web site; he thought it would be a great opportunity to work for a major U.S. biotech company. He made the move from Switzerland and has been working at Genzyme for about three years. As Director of Commercial Development, Torsten works to service and expand customer bases and keeps an eye on emerging trends and technologies. He also manages custom manufacturing projects and helps meet the needs of customers at different stages of drug development. “Genzyme Pharmaceuticals operates in a very competitive market and still maintains a strong entrepreneurial spirit. I can relate very well to some of our small biotech clients and their huge enthusiasm for developing new technologies and therapeutic products. 	Pamela, Genzyme Finance Before joining Genzyme as Senior Director of Customer Business Solutions, Pamela spent four years working at a clinical diagnostics company where she assumed a leadership role similar to her current position. Prior to that, she worked as a distribution analyst, Global logistics analyst and Global project manager in several industries, including fortune 500 companies focused on healthcare. The experience of traveling to and working in many countries outside of the United States has armed Pamela with an understanding and respect of cultural challenges that contribute to the successful businesswoman she is today.
